The N2, the longest and oldest national road in Portugal
Do you want to drive the famous N2 (Estrada Nacional N2) by motorcycle, car or campervan, or maybe even by bike? This fantastic route starts in Chaves.
With a total length of 738.5 km, the N2 is the oldest road in Portugal, dividing the country vertically in two. It's the perfect route to discover Portugal as a whole: beautiful landscapes, many of which are on UNESCO's World Heritage List, such as the Douro river. You'll come across so many beautiful things, like the thermal springs of Chaves, Vidago and Pedras Salgadas, and the peaceful rivers that flow along the route, including the Tâmego, Lamego and Tejo.
The road crosses through colourful plains in the Alentejo, full of ancient history and tasty gastronomy — ending in the Algarve, where the sea and cliffs of Faro await you.
We have an apartment in Cambedo da Raia, about 20 minutes from the city of Chaves. From here, you can prepare yourself for the beautiful drive in peace, and also discover the sights of Chaves first.
For travellers on the N2, there is always a discount on our apartment. With the code N2DEZ, you'll always get 10% off your stay.
